Collaborative Fiction Writing Workshops - How to coach kids to write using RPGs

Giving students the agency to build their own worlds and characters can unleash their creativity and build socio-emotional skills. It can also, however, normalize reading aloud, create a purpose for editing, build an understanding of audience and voice, and re-structure a fear of failure into a culture of constructive revision.
In this session, I'll describe my approach and focus with students in editing their work, giving an overview of the academic skill building activities I use and some strategies for using creative RPG fiction in the classroom. This will be part of the Stories RPG educational toolkit which I'll be kickstarting in March, which will include lesson plans, pacing guides, handouts, activities, illustrated story arcs, and digital collaboration tools for classroom, library, and after-school program use.
